Ligue 1 raid planned? 5 players recently linked with Arsenal move & their profiles

Morgan Sanson, 25, Marseille

Position: Central midfielder, can be used in both advanced and deeper roles.

Profile: An all-round midfielder good both defensively and offensively. Has impressed for Marseille this season. Needs to work on positioning and timing of his tackles but has a great work rate.

Key stats: 5 goals, 4 assists in 27 Ligue 1 games; 2.2 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.1 key passes per game, 86 per cent passing accuracy.

Playing style similar to: Thomas Partey

Source: L'Equipe via Hammers News, reliable

Asking price: €35-40m.

Verdict: Looks like the second option in case Thomas Partey does not join. Marseille could be forced to lower their asking price as Sanson supposedly pushes for a move away.

Watch his best goals for Villas-Boas side:

Serhou Guirassy, 24, Amiens

Position: left-winger, centre-forward.

Profile: Good finisher and a significant aerial threat. Not really good in the build-up, does not track back.

Key stats: 9 goals, 1 assist in 23 games; 4.2 aerial duels won per game.

Playing style similar to: Romelu Lukaku.

Source: The Mirror, average reliability.

Asking price: £10m; could be lowered down as Amiens were relegated to the Ligue 2 so the player will push for a move away.

Verdict: Bench-warmer at best. Why spend money on Guirassy if we have Nketiah?

He was crucial in Amiens' unexpected demolition of PSG though:

Emmanuel Dennis, 22, Club Brugge

Position: centre-forward, right-winger.

Profile: Quick attacker with a low centre of gravity, good work rate and an eye for the goal. Has been linked with the Gunners since the previous season.

Key stats: 5 goals in 20 Jupiler League games; 2.7 successful dribbles and 2.2 ball recoveries per game in the Champions League.

Playing style similar to: Edinson Cavani

Source: Goal, good reliability

Asking price: unknown. Transfermarket values him at €13.5m.

Verdict: Has the required potential to grow into a top player but is perhaps not ready for Arsenal's first-team. By Club Brugge's manager's own admission, is very likely to leave this summer.

Watch him bag a brace against Real Madrid:

Rafa Silva, 27, Benfica

Position: left-winger, can play anywhere in the final third.

Profile: fast, hard-working forward capable of tracking back. Good at dribbling and has spent 3 months on the sidelines this season but overall has a good injury record.

Key stats: 5 goals, 3 assists in 15 Liga NOS games; 1.9 tackles, 2.4 dribbles, 1.7 shots on goal per game.

Playing style similar to: Franck Ribery.

Source: Correio da Manhã via Sports Mole, not reliable.

Asking price: €80m release clause, could be available much cheaper as he supposedly wants to join Arsenal.

Verdict: Looks like a good addition given his versatility and reported desire to move to the Emirates. The transfer fee remains a problem but if Edu manages to get him for less than €30m, it would be a good piece of business.

Confident finish from Rafa:

Moussa Diaby, 20, Bayer Leverkusen

Position: left-winger, capable of playing across the front-line

Profile: Kai Havertz stole the headlines in Bayer's victory against Werder on the Bundesliga's return but it was Diaby who made two assists.

Key stats: 4 assists, 5 goals in 20 Bundesliga games. 2.8 successful dribbles per game.

Playing style similar to: Dries Mertens

Source: Le10Sport, not reliable

Asking price: €30m

Verdict: could potentially become a world-class player. It would be wise to take him but the question is whether the Gunners need competition on the left wing, where we have Aubameyang, Martinelli and Saka.
