An ode to Bruno Fernandes - not the footballer but the human being
When Man United's links with Bruno Fernandes first emerged, I'll be honest - I wasn't very excited about him.
I mean, yeah, it was great to see him scoring and assisting some absolute bangers for Sporting. Little did I know he'd turn out to be one of the best players we've ever signed in recent times (strictly my opinion).
The first time I got excited about him was when a series of Whatsapp messages were leaked which showed his anger at his teammates for not performing up to the standards. And it had been a while since we had a player like him at United.
From day one till now, there's really nothing you can crib about. Bruno has brought about numerous positive changes for the Red Devils on the field and I couldn't be happier. But the best part about him doesn't even have anything to do with football.
It's his never-say-die attitude that inspires me to do better at my job every single day. Of course, he's not invincible and he has his share of bad days too. However, what makes him stand out is that he returns with a smile and an unwavering belief in his own abilities - the quiet sense of confidence where you trust yourself but are also wise enough to know that there are and always will be people better than you.
Everyone has bad days now and then but what really matters is how you get back up and deal with the setback - and that's something we can all learn from Bruno.
He welcomes challenges and is always striving to do better, to perform well and consistently deliver results on the field. In fact, his quote 'You don't need to be a captain to be a leader' is something that has stuck with me and really pushes me to give my 100% every single day - be it at work or in my personal life or whatever.
We've had many players over the years - good players, brilliant performers on the field. But after years, we've got someone who truly embodies the Red Devil spirit. And I am so here for it!
This blog post isn't to highlight his achievements as a footballer - we're all aware of the magic he can create. Instead, it's simply an ode to the inspirational person that he is. And I hope he will stay with us for many, many years to come.

I don't understand how this footballer is not Man United's captain, to be honest. Yes, you don't need the armband to lead but I swear this player is what I imagine when people talk about a good captain.
Agreed, it almost feels like he's the unofficial captain of the team. Armband or not, Bruno is born to be a leader
🙌 absolutely 💯
It will unsettle Maguire as media will make a big hoo ha about it. Hence, next season i guess.

we all dont understand why Bruno Fernandez isn't captain he has brains and Maguire don't have any brains at all just like Solskjaer
Bruno fernandes is a true leader
We cannot play without a CAPTAIN like Bruno Fernandez
This team needed leaders and characters those who can show what it means to play for United. Back then we had Roy Keane as our captain but that doesn’t mean Giggs and Scholes were less of a leader back then. Similarly we should really appreciate the fact that Bruno is a born leader and Harry is deservingly leading our team as the captain of the team with his consistency and hard work too.
Admin the ads I way much I don’t like that
yes you are right
Brilliant post, would love to see more like these and i hope one day Bruno even gets to read it. This why football can be more than just a game. During the whole lockdown I genuinely think without football there was a blanket effect of loss of something quite major in this world. Its by far the biggest and most played sport and then you get so many good role models (as well as the bad). In our club alone or ex devils, look at all the good work they do and even the club itself! Like you i wasnt drawn to Bruno coming in, i still to this day think it was a signing purely to appease the fans. But something done for the wrong reasons can still be great. Bruno has worked wonders. Hes a brilliant family man with a real sense of pride in what he does. Red Devil for life!
I wish he reads this too, he deserves to know how excellent he's been as a role model even off the pitch by just striving to be the best at what he does. And oh yes, he's so committed to his family which is very endearing and beautiful. Sir Alex wanted his players to get married early so they could focus on the pitch and this shows why. Right now, I don't care about why we signed Bruno - I'm simply grateful for the fact that he chose to be here and is giving it his all 💪🏼
Admin please I am banker but I have lost my job but I need money to pay my school bills
Eric Ato koomson, hi mate, first of all I'm really sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, in this case there's not much we can do - we don't have his number to give it out and even if we did, it's classified information. However, you could reach out to him via Twitter, Facebook, etc. Twitter especially is very effective because he usually replies to fans, so you could try that. Once again, sorry to hear what you're going through but you will get through it, I can promise you that🙌🏼
Thanks very much
I like how the author of this piece has humanised football with her ode to Bruno Fernandez. I think it is so important to remeber and so easy to forget that footballers are human too with feelings and emotions and some great qualities and people with failings too. No one is perfect but, when they put on that Manchester United shirt they carry the hopes and dreams of millions of fans around the world and that is what unites a world divided by colour and race and language and that we need to be thankful for the pleasure, pride, privilege and honour it gives us to call ourselves Manchester United fans and faithful followers of this global phenomenon we all love and are so passionate about called FOOTBALL. So....THANK YOU.
Yours too is a great and inspirational comment. Unifying, realistic and humane.👍
